Smoke alarm chirping noise but smoke detector has been removed HELP

    Mods if i have post this topic in the incorrect forum please feel free to move it.
    Right, there is an annoying chirping noise coming from the place where a smoke alarm used to be. The detector itself was removed months ago so the cables stuck out but no problems so far until tonight. Why does the beeping persist even after the detector itself has been removed? Any help is appreciated as i am desparate for sleep.....

    Well it's coming from somewhere else, hard to detect as chirp so short.

    Was the old detector mains powered and mains cable disconnected? The internal battery could be running down in this??? Or do you have another detector or c02 alarm with low battery?

    Had a similar issue a few years back with a mains powered smoke alarm.

    Only thing that stopped it was buying a replacement smoke alarm and fitting it. The One I removed had an expiry date on it iirc.

    You sure there isn't a second upstairs? Mine are linked so when I change batteries on one or remove it, I have to hold the test button on the other to reset.

    Happened to me as well. Basically you have to fool the alarm into it's still connected....turned out old disconnected alarm was put away in storage cupboard so we had to reinstall it then disconnect and then put outside. Eventually died. Sounded weird but worked.

    Kind of missed the chirp for a while.
