Girls and Chess: A Struggle

In fairness, I don't think "we" is necessarily correct here. The incident is in Malaysia - different cultural factors at play for a start (though Malaysia certainly isn't as conservative as some countries). "We" kind of implies it's an Irish incident, or something reasonably local.

Still sounds like a completely daft thing to have happened.

That's fair enough - but let's be honest, in a lot of countries in the world, particularly Muslim ones (like Malaysia, though as I say, it's definitely one of the more progressive Muslim countries), the struggle for girls is about a lot more than just chess.

As I say, daft thing to happen, but I don't think it's really fair to suggest this is a chess problem.
