Internal CCTV in your home

Is there anything stopping someone installing cctv inside their home. No outside or public spaces are visible. Only the inside of the front door and the hallway.
Do you have to inform guests or visitor to the house that they are being recorded? Is there any implication with data protection?

I understand there is no particular problem for the householder to do it.

There may be issues where there is an expectation of privacy, e.g. bathroom or bedroom.

I'd be dubious if there were tenants - I'm basing that purely on the feeling in my water and some tea leaves. Otherwise I can't imagine there are any issues what so ever beyond being damn strange. I was just threatened with a shotgun by the 'daughter's father'.

Nothing as sinister as that, just a load of breakins in the area so want to put camera on front and back door, I do have licensees but they're cool with it and happy with the added security. I know from my work that you have put up notices about cctv and if it can see public space etc but can't find anything covering the inside of a privately owned house and informing guests.

I've had them for years, mainly to see what the pets are up to when we're at work. Had a break in a few months ago although the broadband was down and mine require active internet.

In that case does the sign point not become moot? Signs a plenty and big, obvious dummy cameras (as well as the active ones). Prevention is better than cure.
