Book something then chance showing up. Your car has to be on their system.

Not a hope. You've to book it in.

Yeah failed on rubber CV boot. Use to do it years ago pull up and they would throw it through usually later in the day.

If it's visual no booking is needed. If you've to use a ramp or lane. You'll need to book, either online or phone otherwise they won't do anything.

If you book you'll could go down and try see if they can pop you in.

Call them up and see if they can find a time for you? They will usually be able to provide you with a time in the next 2-3 days but you won't have a lot of choice time-wise.

I turned up to and got a re-test without booking it in.

The re-test took place 2 hours after the initial test and required the use of a test lane.

It is very possible to get seen without any booking, lane needed or not but usually only people in the trade that are friendly with the lads get the privilege regularly.

X2 Deansgrange is particularly strict. I've seen people get turned away there countless times.

That's what I thought and I'm fairly sure that my last retest (visual for a door mirror) did not require a booking (Deansgrange) but the NCT website suggests that you have to book now, even for a visual.....

All re-tests must be booked within 21 days of the initial test. Re-tests which do not require the use of a test lane, will be free of charge. Free re-tests will cover minor visual items for example, replacement of windscreen wiper and registration plates. Re-tests must be completed within 30 days of the initial test or a full test will need to be repeated and charged accordingly.

No. 9 in the FAQs ....
