Amazon charged me for prime when I never ordered it

    Hey guys,

Checked my bank account last night to find out that I was almost 100 quid poorer than I already was. Naturally I checked my statement straight away to see "AmazonPrime Member" and minus 91 euro. I went on to the amazon site and found that this was the yearly rate (99 usd) and I'm now a Prime member.

Is there any way to cancel this and get my money back? Has anyone got any previous experience with amazon customer service if I was to email them? I've been having some financial difficulties recently and this really didn't help.

Also, I haven't bought anything from amazon in weeks and no one else (as far as I'm aware) has access to my account so I definitely didn't click anything by accident.

    Thanks in advance.

I signed up to Prime for the 30 day free trial. And then forgot about it. So when the 30 days were up I got billed.
I sent them an email at the time and they refunded me with no questions.

I've used their support a few times. Find them brilliant.

You were offered free shipping on an item before at checkout most likely.

Open a ticket, Amazon CS are very helpful, it wont be a problem. NB: May take 5-7 days to be refunded because banks are luddites.

All I had to do was go into the customer service page and it asked me what my issue was, I choose the "Cancel membership" option and it told me I would receive the money in 2-3 working days so looks like it's sorted.

I got charged for a few months and got a full refund. As I had never actually used the prime service it was easier. But I did read of people who had used it once or twice, without even realising, and did get refunds.

I found it very sneaky, usually if you buy something on amazon you get all very clear notification that a payment is being taken. I checked back and never once did anything come in from emails suggesting I was making monthly payments, others online said the same.

This thread just reminded me I needed to cancel my free trial so as not to get charged!!
Free trial was expiring tomorrow. During cancelling free trial, they asked a number of times if I wanted to opt for monthly billing instead. I had assumed when I signed up for the free trial, if I did forget to cancel it was billing monthly and I would get over a charge of 8 euro.

I "accidentally" got signed up to prime when ordering something; I saw the option there to try prime, clicked a different option and then was greeted with "Thanks for trying Prime".

In your account settings you can ask it notify you a few days before the renewal is due, so I'm just going to cancel it before it starts charging me.
