We are planing a holiday in Sunnybeach in September. We are staying Sep 9-19th.

The issue is Aerlingus flights to Bourgas stop before the 19th so would have to fly home with Ryanair. Has anyone made the trip from bourgas to Sofia?

I see it's between 4-6 hours. We are 2 families traveling and will have 8 kids with us! Kids range from 3-17. I am dreading that part of the trip with a toddler...

Any tips or is there a different airline that flys bourgas to Dublin? I did google but can't see any.

    Thanks.

The train takes between 7 and 8 hours from Bourgas to Sofia and involves one change.

I flew from Sofia to Dublin last week and the flight was at 6:30am with Ryanair, I arrived at the airport at around 11:30pm and effectively everything shuts down for the night except for one very expensive coffee shop €3 for a can of fanta type pricing, so also bear these type of costs in mind. I took the train from Romania into Sofia as it was a nice scenic journey.

As was said already you can take the Metro from Sofia Train Station to Sofia airport but this will involve one transfer from one metro line to another but your ticket is still valid throughout. I found the Cyrillic Language a challenge and had to ask for directions as I was about to board the wrong metro but thankfully a bulgarian student was happy to point me in the right direction.

One other option would be to take a train or bus to Istanbul and fly back with Turkish airlines, but you'd have to pay $20 dollars evisa fee for each passport. But in the current security climate I'd advise against it especially with children travelling.

Another option which perhaps would be the easiest option is to book Norwegian Airlines from Bourgas to Dublin with a stopover in Oslo, it would cut out the hassle of the long train journey and potential long wait in Sofia airport. And as it would be the same airline and same booking it should be a protected transfer.

I went from Sunny Beach to Sofia to a match a few years ago. I got a taxi to Varna and a flight from there. Worked out cheap enough too as far as I remember.

I'd say, go to where ever you can get suitable flights to and from. Bulgaria sounds like too much hassle on that return date that you have.

    have you tried "Flights Bulgaria"?

They are on facebook and have a website.

On Facebook they are connected with the Clara Hotel, but have seats only for sale also.

I don't know what dates they run until.

    a taxi for 6 is about €170 , takes about 4 hours.

or you could fly from bourgas to luton etc with wizzair very cheaply.
