    Hi folks,

I got an internship in Dublin for 11 weeks and today, they sent details of my salary. This is what I received :

    Start Date: 12th June 2017
    End Date: 25th August 2017
    Annual Salary: €18,037.5
Annual Leave: 22 days per year

How can I know my net salary?? I mean, the net money that i will get in total. I checked some online calculators, but I'm not sure if they're ok.

Im a student, 21 years old and single. What taxes do i have to pay??

Also, about the holidays... would i have around 4 days off, right??

    Thanks for all :)

How will that information effect the arithmetic?

    €337pwk assuming no other factors,
    well according to http://services.deloitte.ie/tc/
    Around 12 Pub'H days, and thus 10 (2wks) Pvt'H.
Not sure where you're getting just 4 days from,
hopefully it's not in system critical applications.

They aren't working a full year though so they don't get a full years holiday entitlement. OP, I would say roughly 4.6 days (22/52*11).

As this is your first job and you're starting mid way through the tax year you'll have tax credits built up from January through to your start date so you shouldn't be paying any tax during your internship. Again as you're starting in June you'll be under the USC threshold of €13,000 for the tax year so you shouldn't have any USC to pay. Also as your pay is under €352 per week you will be exempt from PRSI so your nett pay should be the same as your gross pay in this instance - €346.87 per week.

If you register for "myAccount" on revenue.ie and have all your employment details setup before you start work you'll have the correct tax details allocated to your employer which saves the possibility of the dreaded emergency tax!

Best of luck with your internship

That calculated some tax and USC as payable, the OP'S will only be working for part of the year so they won't be paying any.

You will be earning a bit over 4,000 in total. You should not be paying any tax or USC.

On a very practical personal note you are responsible for making sure your employers get the correct tax information at the start to tax you correctly- I suggest that you ring revenue once you start work and tell them who you work for and that you will only be earning a small amount- revenue should then tell your employer that you are exempt from USC.

Certain jobs will be allowed flat rate expenses by revenue so it would have a bearing in some cases.
However as outlined above the OP should not have any tax to pay as they are only working for part of the year.

They may need to pay the tax on wages, but (later) claim it all back, this can be done easily and without the aid of any tax refund agency.
