Frame And Border For B&W Photo?

Hullo. I've looked at the rules. I hope this request is within them? If not, I'm sure it'll vanish and a mod' will point me straight :)

I just want a bit of advice. I have a black and white photo ~ well; Bloody good 'photo copy' of one. I'd like to frame it. But, I understand the thing is to get a coloured card border round it. Then frame the lot?

Just wondering; What coloured border might be best, please? And, any thoughts on the type / colour of frame?

I'd then have to source them locally, of course. So, I can't see anyone making anything from this post. So, no rules broken. I hope?

    Thanks.

I usually use either white or a cream coloured matte with a plain black frame for monochrome prints.

A photo copy can have quite a limited life as it is generally designed for short to medium term usage. If you want it for display for an extended period it may be better to use archival quality medium and pigments.

Do you have access to a high resolution file and permission to reproduce it? If so then a high quality print is a lot less expensive than the framing costs. If it a copy from an original print then a high resolution scan and reprint would be best.

Well, how about that?! I'd googled frames and, having scrolled through the commercially available, ready made stuff till my eyes bled? I'd bookmarked This one as being fine, by me!

(Apologies to the maker / retailer. I've removed their details, so I'm not breaking the rules here. I'd gladly PM anyone the original link though ;))

Yeppers. I'll get onto the young lady who took the shot and, I'm sure, she'll happily sort me out what I need to get a top grade copy of her superb photograph.

I'll also grab that frame then. It, obviously suits the accepted model for the type. My own photo is a lot more grey and gritty that that over exposed sea of whiteness though. Look much better. I also feel it'll fit in great, where it's to hang.

    Excellent! Thanks! :D
