Berlin where to stay?

Hi my brother and want to visit Berlin for a weekend in September. We want to go on the piss every night and sightsee during the day. We are interested in seeing new cities and really interested in history. So we would like to be close to nightlife and became to go sightsee...we don't mind getting a bus to tourist attraction areas but when drinking, we would probably rather not have to rely on taxis.

So in wondering where in Berlin we should stay? We are looking to budget. I read that Berlin is really spread out so I guess it isn't an easy question.

was in berlin in december and we stayed in the H2 hotel in alexendraplatz, very convient to the train station and walkable to most of the sites or the tube is also great ...the hotel was supberband breakfast is included in the price...rooms are small but spotless and perfect. for a few nites stay... not to sure about the night life as we were there for the christmas markets.... the hauffrau bar is right beside the h2 and super for food and very reasonably prices, also mio restaurant was fantastic...

If you are young stay in a Hostel. You will meet others to go to clubs with, predrinks wont be just the two of you in your room, etc

Hostelworld is the best site to book hostel

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm going with my elder brother who refuses to do hostels. Mg other brother and I however love hostels. Sadly I think it must be a hotel.

I think alexanderplatz area sounds good. Or mitte

Once you are handy for an S or U Bahn station, you're sorted.

Yeah Alexanderplatz is a good option. There's an enormous park inn there which is modern and good value.

Last two times I visited I went for the Queens Park Hotel. It was ideal for me as I was there to see Hertha Berlin and it's a nice walk to the Olympiastadion from there. Good hotel, good breakfast, parking, good staff, cheap.

Slightly out of the way BUT right beside the bahn so very accessible.

    Hotel/hostel hybrid?

As spurious said above, once you're near a U bahn or S bahn station you'll be fine. Incredibly easy city to get around.

My Wife, Father-in-law and I stayed in the Schoenhouse Apartments a few years back and we each couldn't recommend it enough. It's about a 5 minute walk from Alexanderplatz and less than that to the nearest train station. They also did Airport pick up/drop offs for a reasonable fee (I can't remember exactly tbh).

    Alexanderplatz is the best choice

Be aware beer isn't magically cheap in Germany so expect to pay 8-9 euro for a 1L maß beer down the Hofbrau or other location

If its open, there is a huge beer garden in the Tiergarten, if you find the Spanish Embassy you will find the beer

Depends on what youre looking for, but anywhere near a U2 line and you're sorted.

Its still my favourite city in Europe, have a great time!

Have a look at the Eurostar Hotel. We stayed there and it was perfect. Just outside the hotel there are lovely bars and cafes under the train line. Its very close to the old part of Berlin and right on the tram line.

The best bars are in Kreuzberg. As has been said, once you are in close proximity to an S or U Bahn you are laughing.
