I bought a 2.5kg pouch of chocolate flavour Recovery XS from myprotein and its the most sickly sweet thing i've ever drank, half an hour later and my tummy doesnt feel the best either and the aftertaste from the sweetener is still there.

I had one of the high 5 recovery sachets that was in the marathon demo pack Lidl or Aldi was selling a while back after the Limerick half and it was fine though it seems far more pricy than the myprotein one. I foolishly thought they would all taste pretty much the same.

Milk- maybe with some chocolate powder and nut better added for taste/extra protein. Much cheaper that most of the pre mixed crap out there.

Nothing like milk and a mars bar after a marathon I find .

Hmm maybe i should just stick with the plain whey protein and cocoa powder i had been using, thought this recovery stuff would have me bounding like a gazelle five minutes later, only thing its got bounding so far is my tummy.

If I see the For Goodness Shakes chocolate recovery drink on offer in Tesco or Dunnes, I'd pick up a bottle or two for after any marathons. Haven't tried the stuff you mentioned so can't say how it would compare sweetness wise but it's ok for me.

I know its not a recovery drink, but I like the chocolate Weetabix on the go bottles. Or I get a bottle of chocolate milk.

    Soup and tea.

Was at a mountain race in Scotland last weekend in the baking heat. Big cauldron of some salty concoction with lots of lentils at the end. Completely revived a lot of runners who were almost passed out, lying around, heaving up jelly babies etc. It adds a kinda...depth, like you're getting something substantial.

As one of those lucky people who is allergic to fecking everything I have to be picky. I find the Bulk Powders beef protein the best by far. Comes in a few flavours or you can flavour it yourself
