Chance of random unannounced and undetected disconnects due to roaming on and off the 3g sections of the network, meaning you won't receive calls or texts: 100%.

Does that happen on 48 network aswell?

Im on 48 and have no issues with signal , have poor 3g in the country side but signal is what mattered more to me for phone calls and texts.

If you live there don't go there (galway particularly)

Their roaming policy re data allowance is criminal: "If you exceed your billing month fair usage allowance of 30 call mins, 30 SMS and 30 MB of data, chargeable rates will apply."

    30mb?!

Best bet is to pick up a SIM in the shop and see how the signal is. Its going to be the same as all the other MVNOs and similar to three in most places. I jumped ship from them last month and onto meteor, have found the reception much better, data speeds a lot better.
Remember tesco don't facilitate sending emails if you need SMTP access, have no 4G, their 3G speeds can be slow and countryside reception is mostly 2G.

Camera lens mysteriously cracked on my 2 week old S7.

Despite it being a well known fault all over the internet....Samsung (via vodafone) not honouring a replacement.

So.... think hard before u buy an S7. Do plenty of googling on it.

Me...now stuck with phone for another 23.5 months with a damaged lens. Not a happy punter!

    No 4G?

    No, that's not correct.

The S7 is a lovely phone, this is a great bargain.

But the TM network is dire. Ported from them recently as calls dropped and coverage degraded. No 3G in rural areas. No 4G at all.

So you have a great phone and can't use it...

We currently offer our customers 3G Data and 2G (voice and text) coverage and now our customers are now benefiting directly from the investment undertaken by Three to improve coverage, and data speeds nationwide for Tesco Mobile.

30 month contract, I'm 9 months into an 18 month contract and it feels like forever, 30 months is a hell of a lot

was two years with them, it was forever....running outside to take a call etc etc

I cant urge anyone whos on the fence strongly enough not to go there regardless of the prize unless you are 100% sure about the network

It's a good offer, and I'm seriously tempted for my OH. However, she's just started a month on her current Virgin package, and I don't want to end up paying two phone companies for one month. Can you buy the phone now and then changeover after a few weeks, or do you need to switch to Tesco as part of the initial transaction?

Myself and my wife used the 48 and Tesco networks for past few years and we are located just outside Athlone in middle of the country. We commute regular to Dublin, we never ever had issues with poor coverage. I also tested Eir and Three 4g mobile and I didn't see much difference in speeds to Tesco so I'm a bit puzzled why others talk so negatively here.

The same with me. Meteor was disaster! Vodafone slight better but customer service experience was the worst ever. Tesco is ok so far, no problems at all.

Perhaps because we don't all live in or around Athlone...? Coverage in Mayo/Galway/Clare has deteriorated. I rarely travel to Dublin, but other posters in the TM forum are complaining about coverage there as well.

The way I look at it is you could have a sim only PAYG plan with Three, Meteor, or iD on a better network for €20/month. So take the extra tenner per month plus the up-front cost of the phone and you're at €420 in wasted money compared to another network. FYI the phone is sold new for £410 which isn't too far from that but with no contract and better choice of networks.

Basically if you can stretch the upfront cost to buy the phone outright you will always have a better bargain.

Surly there has to be some comeback from Samsung if it is a known fault.

    I would take it further.

I tried.... Vodafone insist that I send it back to Fonefix who will charge €195 to repair it if found that I caused it. But - thats just going thru the motions....Fonefix are gonna find fault with me and I have no idea of what other messing around they will do with it.

So.... I'll just sit on it til end of contract and then go back to Apple!

Honestly, if you don't give them the chance to do a repair, you can't really complain. If they do insist on charging, go for the Small Claims Court.

they telling me up front that its my fault.... that there is no Samsung problem with the glass!! So - am on a hiding to nothing from the get-go.

I never implied it was good everywhere.

I only pointed out in my experience it's fine from Athlone (central Ireland) to Dublin.

Then go to the Small Claims Court. If it broke spontaneously, take it to the judge. If there is a fault with these, you'll find other stories online.

Been with tesco for about 3 years, live in Dublin, 3g coverage not good.
Seem to be large areas of Dublin where coverage is awful.
Donnybrook, templeogue, Camden St for example are areas I travel in regularly, where I know I won't get a signal, if anything it's got worse over the years too.
Anyway, im off to sign up for a fiver a month with UPC.

This can be replaced yourself quite easily. I know you shouldn't have to but it's the alternative to forking out money to have it done. It happened to me on 8 month old S7 Edge. Got a replacement glass kit from amazon and replaced it using a hairdryer to get the old one off. There's videos on YouTube about it.
