Garmin Cycling Combo Mount for Edge and VIRB

Does anyone here have one of these garmin ones ?

Is the lower camera mount moulded into the main bracket arm, or based on a disc that is bolted to the main arm through the arm into the removable quarter turn Edge disc? If it's bolted on, are the bolt holes in the camera mount disc oriented parallel to the bike or perpendicular?

(Odd question, I know, but this is because I have a Canyon aero bar Garmin out front mount - the Garmin quarter turn disc fits perfectly in the Canyon bracket, but I need a GoPro mount underneath. Given the odd profile of my bars, my options are limited!)

I took apart a k-edge but the top and bottom bolt onto the bracket arm and not into each other so no good to me.

Just took mine apart out of curiosity, I'd never even considered that it might be bolted on!

So short answer is it's bolted on, perpendicular to the bars and 2mm allen key is all you need.

Took a couple of photos which I can try to post later.

looking through the ones i took there's only 1 useful one as i forgot to take one with the camera mount removed :o

so if you want to hold off this evening i'll do that for you, or else can send you on the 1 'useful' pic which is from underneath the camera mount while it's still attached. i can't see how to post it from my phone and face other challenges posting from my work computer!

No I need a go-pro mount to mount my light or my drift camera.

If it's a drift stealth I'm assuming you know you'll need an adaptor for a screw mount (for want of a better term) also?

Yes I've that bit got already but getting it onto the bike was the big issue - I've a garmin combo mount ordered now from wiggle so will be ripping it when I get it next week.

Can you link to the mount you bought on wiggle, please?

FWIW just tighten the rear hatch onto the Drift "finger tight" Don't over do it. I learnt the hard way.

    This one here - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/garmin-cycling-combo-mount-for-edge-virb/

What lesson did you learn ? I went out in March and got caught in a massive hour of rain and the stealth 2 got waterlogged and gave up but they did a warranty swap for me and told me to start using the waterproof case from now on.

Wiggle order arrived eventually and just 5min had me in action, can swap from my light or camera easily and have my garmin on top.

Ah! now I see what you were up to. Augmentation! :)

Considering my Drift Stealth 2 got a lot of water ingress today (tis dead), I'd say more than finger tighten it, though I have broken one rear hatch already from over tightening :(

I'm thinking some sort of rubber/silicon added to the device might help in the long run.

I'm delighted now with the new mount - allows me to swap between the light and the camera quickly.
I've lost 1 drift 2 to rain after its 2nd cycle and they did a warranty swap for me and I've bought the waterproof case off them then and if I see rain again it's into the case for sure.
Would you go with the case ?

I would go with the case, but they have no stock.

That aside, it had survived a lot of heavy rain until I broke the original hatch. When I got new one I was more gentle with it, and maybe thats why it went wrong :/

It's possible that being in a group for awhile today, the back splash from people in front of me just soaked it.

Not the end of the world though, even though I do highly rate it. In fairness, I have few other cameras to fall back on.

Enjoy your new mount, nice bike too :)

If your looking for a case let me know as I think a friend of mine has 2 of them and 1 is still in the box.

    Nice one, bought :)

My buddy had a bid on one of eBay (€35) last week and then I spotted this for him and I told him he'd never win the eBay one and to buy this instead as he'd have it in 2 days so he went ahead but also won the eBay one :)
A handy spare for me though if I need another.
