No. Under 35 purchasing land for farming is exempt from stamp duty providing they have nessecary qualifications.

If you are close to the age limit you'll have to study the act. You can't be expected to have a qualification that wasn't available when you got your qualifications. Each act has a section that refers back to the qualifications which were deemed sufficient for the previous act. You may have some research to do but I doubt if any other work you do this year will be as lucrative.

I would have thought so but you'll have to check the relevant act. It's all available online. Revenue will be no help, in my experience more like actively obstructionist.

There is a whole list of courses on the dept of Ag website for young farmers scheme. Not sure if it qualifies for revenue for stamp duty exemption though

When does the 6% increase in stamp duty introduced in budget come into play? Now or Jan 01st

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 159 ✭✭noworries2004

6% Came in on the day of the Budget. Still waiting for Finance bill to be passed to get rid of age for consanguity relief to reduce to 1% if being transferred between family.

Bar sibling , Son/daughter , favourite niece /nephew if someone even gives you something you have to get it valued and pay 6% stamp duty ?
