    Hello!
I was wondering if anyone could help me on here if you would be so kind.
I'm currently living and working abroad and returning to Ireland this August and I'm starting a Msc in September. My wife has been residing and working in Ireland for the last year.
I'm deciding whether or not to do the Masters full time and obviously it will come down to a financial decision.
Therefore, does anyone know if we get jointly assesed that my wife will be entitled to my tax credits if I'm studying full time and if I'd have enough tax credit built up having lived abroad for the last 3 years but worked and paid tax in Ireland for the 12 years previous to that.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards..

You can opt to be jointly assessed for tax purposes with your wife and you will be able to transfer 9000 euro of your standard rate band and your personal tax credit of 1650 euro to her. You keep the remainder. Your prior year rate bands and credits have no bearing on this year.

Were you working abroad last year yourself? If not, or if the income was minimal, you may be entitled to something called Aggregation relief also
