Anyone know how to start a Renualt 981. Is there a knack like keeping clutch in etc. I tried to start yesterday morning but couldn't. Fella left key in her so she could be moved but can't get a hold of him and she blocking a shed door. I'd be more familiar with a 135...:)

Is that the one with about 40 levers here, there and everywhere in the cab??

If so make sure all are in neutral (cant remember which is the one) and PTO is in off position..

    Horrible yokes

Maybe not 40 but seemed to have 3 gear levers, tried all 3 in neutral, can't imagine PTO wasn't in neutral as only used for towing. No big panic as I'll see him at the weekend.

    Is the handbrake on?

The newer ones have to have the 1234 lever and pto in neutral. Clutch shouldn't matter. Failing that there is a little wire on the starter that can sometimes come loose (its just a push on connection). It should be on the right hand side of the engine as you sit in the cab. Push that back on and she should start

Maguire and Patterson would get it going!!

Sorry op, try what the lads above have posted.

Some of them you have to push the key down and then it turns abit further to start them

Put her out of gear, good long screwdriver, and short the starter.

    Hup she'll go! :D

gear stick on the right needs to be in neutral and foot on the clutch. there is no neutral on the middle gear only forward and reverse. maybe he has an isolator switch for the battery somewhere
