    Tragic. RIP.
Driver of tractor uninjured. Why they write that is beyond belief and quite inconsiderate to the family of the deceased at this time.

Just all too common an occurrence these days.

    Rest In Peace.

I'm from area and that's the third fatality in last couple of years . I'm constantly giving out about condition of roads , but in this instance the road would be fairly good there.

Its staggering the amount of cyclists on our roads training for ring of Kerry .

RIP and my condolences to her poor family .

In the vast majority of motor vehicle / cyclist or pedestrian incidents, the driver is uninjured and perfectly healthy (apart from being in shock/trauma for what happened). It is OTT to continuously say the driver was uninjured where there is a fatality. In saying that, I am not being over sensitive. Some poor soul is dead - does the public need to know the health or otherwise of the driver?

It's usually mentioned in fairness regardless of the modes of transport involved.

Awful, very sad news. This woman was no different to many of us on here - perhaps just out on a nice evening getting some training done for an upcoming event. You never think that this split second incident will happen.

RIP and condolences to all who knew her.

Its so sad - every time i hear about one of these fatalities my heart sinks. My partner cycles to work daily and i am always worried about him now. Im sure he is the same about me.

RIP to this cyclist and im thinking of her family and friends.

read somewhere that it happened coming towards a traffic calming area on the road and that the tractor was travelling in the same direction as the cyclist.

    Very sad. Rip.

Not sure of the circumstances but that bypass is very dangerous anyway. There are often accidents on it and locals have been wanting it to be changed for years.

this is why im afraid to go for a cycle.
Its getting ridculous on the roads, absolutley no regard for cyclists safety by a significent amount of motorists.
I had 3 close passes within the first 6km of my spin last week,
One after 1km, where i cud hear the vehicle coming behind on the N24 Piltown bypass (AKA Death Junction) where the F***tards in planning/roads decided to put plastic bollards on the right hand side of the lane , i heard the red jeep skidding on the road when he slammed on the brakes when he realised he cudnt squeez past me. It was a terrifying second when i heard the skidding behind me, and awaiting an impact from behind.
Thankfully it didnt come, but i was shook after it.
Then 5k later just outside Carrick heading towards Clonmel, there are "Traffic Calming" (ironic name) in the middle of the road, and i had 2 welsh campervans pulling 'Hot rods' on their way to Tipperary Raceway in Rosegreen , squeez past me , i cud see inside the back of the campervan, and could touch the side if i tried...
I have to ask is it worth it anymore, B***ard drivers have taken the joy out of cycling ...

I have to agree - i commute to work on my bike but the idea of going for a cycle in the evening for pleasure is gone for me. Its no longer enjoyable - its a battle.

I pass a few traffic calming points on my weekend cycles. Ironically, it's where I've almost come a cropper on one than more occassion - drivers squeezing past, rather than waiting the 2 or 3 seconds it takes for me to pass it. There's signs up for hundreds of meters advising of traffic calming.

The amount of cars that squueze past here https://goo.gl/maps/YvgjhYAutsT2 is insane. When they realise the poles are in the middle of the road, cars are prepared to hit cyclists rather than the pole. My solution? I cycle mid-lane. P!ssed off a few drivers, but if they can't learn how to overtake responsibly, tough....

Condolences to the family and friends,

As there are no details bar the tragedy itself, i would ask all posters to respect that family or friends may come across this thread and find it distressing or insensitive to discuss such things, particularly at this very tragic moment. Any questions, please PM me, not in thread.
