We are planning to take ownership of my mums house, do some renovation work on the current bungalow, and build a granny flat on the side for my mum. We will be insulating the original house, replacing some windows, and possibly upgrading the heating system. Can anyone advise of any grants which might be available for all this?

No specific grant for the granny flat. Planning required obviously.

SEAI grant for insulation, windows, boiler and renewables.
Local council grant available for home adaptation if that helps your mother.

What about HRI (Home Renovation Incentive scheme)??
Not strictly a grant, but a tax rebate on work done by contractors with full tax clearance.
