Are Amber Leaf pouches discontinued now?

I've tried several different shops in the last week or so but none had Amber Leaf pouches, just the box. Are they gone now? A manager in one shop mentioned something about new legislation.

They've gotten rid of the 12.5g packs. Apparently having more tobacco at hand will encourage us to smoke less.

F*cking joke of a country, they just keep on upping the bar of how Nanny State they are. I buy cigarettes about once a month and that's the type I buy. Who do these clowns actually represent? Not me anyway.

The boxes are 12.5 gram so I think the least amount they can sell is 50gram so the boxes will be gone.

EU directive then. So I can't point the finger at the usual TD culprits! I'm not quite as annoyed now.

30 grams.Local garage owner and myself were only discussing it recently. It will be well worth a cheap flight to Charloi to stock up. It's around 85quid for a pack of ten x 50gram and your allowance is two of those. In Schipol,In late march the 10 pack cost me €100 but the flights cost much more.
Also, when brexit kicks in,the ferry operators will be selling tobacco and cigarettes at duty free prices again, although the allowance is small.

Working in a shop I can tell you on the 22nd of this month the only size available will be 30g. Reason why they are hard to find at the moment is because they are withholding them on all our orders as they want to get rid of all the boxes and 12.5 pouches.

I heard it was due to factory closing and relocating and not enough stock made to meet demand

It's an EU directive, like getting rid of the ten boxes so you had to buy 20,whilst for vaping Ejuice they reduced the size of the bottle to 10ml...more bonkers EU regulation

    What I've been told too.

Cant find a 30g pouch anywhere in town the past week/fortnight as a result.

They'll be too big to fit in the vending machines too, awkward box size.

Working in a shop, I think there's a production problem with the pouches at the moment. As previously mentioned they will only be making the 30g pouches soon.

Load of cock. The boxes are nice for carrying around.

Now with the large pouches, I won't be going through that whole "I don't have much left, I'll hold off on having a smoke for a while" phase. It will happen once instead of 2-3 times. So I smoke more.

We all know smoking is bad but the craziest decision they have made on new packaging is they have removed all nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide details from packaging, this means someone can't decide to use the lightest* brand.

*Yes I know every cig is 100% bad for you but there should be some idea of strength given to people to make some degree of informed decision as which will be least bad.

Imperial tobacco in Mullingar had to close because of this new eu rule as their machines can't make the new packaging.

    Cheers lads!

    http://www.westmeathexaminer.ie/news/roundup/articles/2016/06/30/4122537-imperial-tobacco-proposing-to-close-mullingar-factory/

According to Imperial Tobacco, the proposed closure has resulted from the EU wide introduction of a 30g minimum pack size for rolling tobacco products from May 2016.

This has, the firm says, directly led to the requirement to decommission a number of production lines in the Mullingar factory.

Yeah I noticed this. In some adverts on how smoking is bad they'll say there's x,y, or z chemicals but they removed nicotine MG content. It's sort of like not having the Abv on booze

i used to smoke a 10 box a day when i was younger. they banned that, ended up smoking more when you could only buy 20 boxes. i smoke two 12.5 gram boxs a week. it looks like now ill be smoking a 30 grams of tobacco instead of 25 grams. the people who make these laws are idiots

The next nearest equivalent would be Cutters Choice, its not too far off the Amber Leaf taste.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Cutters choice is nice alright but I find with even the slightest change in tobacco i get horrible smokers cough, Not sure much when i stick to the amber leaf. I will miss the boxes myself. Im not a heavy smoker, the one box a week did me but now im going to either smoke more or smoke the same but with dry horrible tobacco. Might get an oul airtight tin to keep it in. weight it out in portions for 3 weeks xD

I am pretty much the same. I went from about 7-8 smokes a day to about 12. Again, 2 12.5g boxes get me through the week (which is very much less than what 12 cigarettes a day are).

It's time we got beyond all of this rubbish. The government want us to smoke more to get an increase on tax. They want us in pubs with unlimited supplies of alcohol to drink more and spend more, as opposed to at home when there is a limit.

Nah the 10 boxes was all us. Could still get them over the border last year.

    If I could buy a 10 box that's all I'd smoke a day.

Save the 12.5g pouches and transfer over and keep boxes if you still have some.

Otherwise you'll have to stick the pouch in a pocket, bra, whatever. I've seen people over the years use the larger pouches to store their filters and papers. Copy whatever your friends do and see if it works :)

There is 30g boxes now of amber leaf blonde at least. Not been able to find the yellow yet. Box is roughly the same size as the 30 box of benson.
