Ryanair advising possible 3 hours border check delays across europe

    Is this a generic mail or has there been a significant change in the border patrols of late
    Dear Customer.

    Due to extended Travel Document Checks by Border Control Authorities, customers are advised to expect possible delays at immigration control points across our European network.

    Ryanair advises customers to arrive at least 3 hours before the scheduled departure time of their flight, to ensure they have sufficient time to arrive at the boarding gate at our recommended 30 minutes prior to their scheduled fight departure time.

    Northern Italy, G7 meeting, issues (well Italy was always slow)
    Barcelona, major delays reported
    Peak summer season, lots of people with no clue wandering around airports.
    Amsterdam is reported as being increasingly slow at security
    UK airports again can be very slow on arrival (but doesn't apply if you are coming from the CTA)

    Fly with a full passport if possible, these are quicker to process than EU ID cards and are issued subject to more stringent conditions. Plus passports can use the automated gates which make a massive difference.

    With the exception of the UK, you will have you passport checked on both arrival and departure for all flights Europe - Ireland, but you should not get passport checked on internal EU/Schengen flights (that said passport controls can be reinstated)
