Switching to Eir fibre?

Currently using Imagine Lte in rural south galway. Service is okay, getting wifi speeds approx 20mbps. We have saorview for TV currently.
Eir cabinet (black box) went up on the road a few weeks back. The rep offers eir Fibre extreme max speed 150mb, TV bundle and voip phone €61 pm

Reviews of Eir products and customer service are quite mixed (scathing on some forums!) and I'm old enough to remember the days of the shoddy Eircom monopoly.. so just a bit cautious about changing over to them.

Anyone got experience of this eir fibre extreme, good bad or indifferent? Thanks 🙂

Great broadband, mediocre TV. If you use the internet more than a tiny bit its really a no brainer. You can purchase the same service through magnet.

I wouldn't bother with Eir they're expensive .Thats probably an introductory price anyhow

Check out Vodafone for basic fibre broadband and the service is good

Flat price €61 for 18 months. Currently paying €59 for Imagine (phone & broadband, daily limit 20gb download)

Must look at Magnet too - thanks

Magnet don't sell it either. OP the service is Openeir's rural FTTH. There is a 6000 post thread in this forum about it. It is a brand new world class network that is going to be the future of broadband for many years to come. There is no comparison with Imagine.

Your choice of suppliers are: eir, Digiweb, Pure Telecom and maybe Westnet where you are. Vodafone are not an option at this time.

Ok but 150mb is a bit slow for a world.class.network

That's assuming the OP will get anything near that speed anyway.

It is a full fibre optic network. Distance does not matter (up to 10KM but it will have been designed for this). It can do 1 Gb/s down 100Mb/s up. Do people just like commenting for fun on things they clearly have no idea about?

OP your in a great position with FTTH finally available to you. The rep was offering you speeds of 150megs, but there are also 300 and 1000meg options available to you. It is a world class network.

For an extra few euro you'll be moving from Imagine's half arsed service wtih too many limitations to something far superior and future upgradable.
