Leaving work to complete Masters

Hi. I need to leave work after 10 years in the same company for various reasons. I have decided to go back to college to complete a Masters. If I leave work to do this will I be entitled to any social welfare? The course is 3 days a week so ideally I would try find work for 2 or 3 days but checking just in case.
I have been working for the last 21 years and don't receive any SW now. My husband earns around €35k and we have no children.
    Thanks.

I think I'm correct in saying you will be entitled to Jobseekers Benefit. If you've worked and paid PRSI, it shouldn't be means tested.
I'm open to correction on that though!

You would only be entitled to SW payment for the days you are available for work. But if the course is considered full time eduction as most 3 day post grads are, then you would probably not be entitled to anything as you are not available for work. You should check this with your course provider and DSP
