    Hey All,

I'm hoping to write a novel (about 10k words in). It's probably best described as YA or mainstream fiction. I'm not part of any groups or haven't been to writing classes. I don't know where/how my writing is going right or wrong. The main thing I'm interested in is, did you enjoy reading it and do you want to read more. :)

    I don't necessarily want to fill a thread with 10,000 words and ask for feedback here, so my suggestion is the following;
If anyone wants to do an exchange; First 10,000 words or thereabouts of your writing, for mine. We provide feedback to one another - say 1 week timeframe.
Who am I to give feedback? Well no one special, but I'd be objective and because I read books, can advise if I personally think your first 10k words is readable! :)

Recent authors I've read (idea of genres I'm most familiar with)
    John Scalzi
    Jo Nesbo
    Kim Standley Robinson
    Neal Stephenson
    Becky Chambers
    Hugh Howey
    Iain M Banks

and I've read more mainstream fiction too.
    PM me if interested.

Happy to take a gander over your 10k, though I have to warn you that I'll feed back constructive criticism rather than affirmation, so be ready :-). Send your work by private message if you're feeling up to it.
I've read many of the same authors, Banks is a personal favourite, am still gutted by his death. I'm in the final stages of a first draft by my first 10k is not ready for sharing just yet.

That's great. I shot it over as a link this morning. Thanks for taking the time & hope I can reciprocate soon.

I would also happily read your 10k and give back some constructive criticism.
Send me a PM if interested.

I have a long term aspiration of writing a novel, but haven't done anything concrete about it yet. Hopefully one day.

    I'll give it a read.

I wrote a YAF novel this year. Currently querying agents. I received a request for a full manuscript from an agent yesterday.

I had never written anything previous to this.

I'm happy to read a synopsis and rip it apart.

    That sounds quite sadistic.

It might sound sadistic but it is usually what is needed and Eillen does know a lot about sadism.:)
Unfortunately a lot of work makes it to self-publication that has never had a proper 'rip apart'.

If you can produce a synopsis that I'm happy with, or answer the questions that arise when I read your synopsis, you know your plot is solid, and all you have to concentrate on is the editing and polishing.

Or more likely, you realise you have huge plot holes, but then you'll know what you have to fix

Challenge accepted. :) Thank you. I have to write it first. Will be in touch.
