I'm having ongoing discomfort in a root canalled molar. The original symptoms were sensitivity to cold and pressure on a perfectly intact tooth. The procedure seemed to be success. However the symptoms never fully went away, and 6 weeks later I returned to the dentist. X-rays revealed no crack and no obvious reason for the discomfort. A temporary crown was applied and a request that we see what happens. The truth is that a sensation has always remained in the tooth. I should be feeling nothing at all.

To make matters worse, yesterday the temporary crown came loose and I'm in considerably more discomfort. I'm back in tomorrow.

Should I just tell her to pull it out and be done with it? The root canal was done in February of this year and I'm getting fed up with the ongoing symptoms and throwing money at it. However I don't want to lose the tooth...it's not broken, chipped or decayed on the outside anyway. Or should I get a 2nd opinion or maybe re-do the root canal...she could have missed a canal etc? Thanks.

Don't get it pulled, you can't put it back!
