Quality Assurance

My Quality Assurance is due for renewal on 30 June 2017.

I got a letter about 4 weeks ago from Bord Bia saying an inspector would call me re arranging a visit but so far I have got no call

Is this because there is a new scheme coming out (I read this somewhere)

What happens on 30/6/2017, will my farm be no longer quality assured?

You'll get a call from an inspector at some stage, you won't lose your status in the mean time.

It's best to do the 'tasks' suggested on the back of the letter, which are highlights/short comings from your last inspection, also fill out the records book now (the inspector hates smudging the wet ink!).

I got a letter over two months ago and still haven't heard from anyone.

I'd say that you're worrying about nothing. You'll probably hear from them in the next couple of weeks to arrange the visit. You could always give them a call to confirm.

    thanks

but I think there was a new scheme announced - there was something on the journal a few weeks ago

It's normal to get the letter 3 months before your cert is out . They can ring you 2 months before it out to call out.

You won't start the new scheme until after you pass this aduit so you don't have to worry about spray or mortality records. Just fill out the old book and you be grand

Got my letter to day, is the new scheme much stricter than the last one.

Must cut a door out for the few hens from outside, they can go out back to a field but the door for collecting eggs, bedding is through the slat shed, it used be a weanling shed. No calves here.

Had my first inspection of the new regime today. Passed anyway :)

Same as the old inspection except they now check the pesticides records, storage of pesticides and was I registered to spray and is the sprayer tested (paper trail).

Also had to have the Sustainability Survey completed before inspection started.

The inspector spent the longest time going over the remedies records and herd register.

I took over the place during the year, the Sprayer is not tested yet nor am I registered.

I'm thinking that that will be an issue for them.

    Currently working on it.

It shouldn't be an issue unless you're using it or have been using it. Sprayers only need to be tested if they're being used.
In your case you have the sprayer and are planning to get it tested and doing the course but until you get everything in order the sprayer isn't doing any harm sitting in the yard.

Sprayer won't matter, had an inspiration a month ago and he never mentioned it but seen him look at power shaft cover.
And I don't have cert either.

There was wild bird cover and a small paddock burnt off for reseeding this year.

Can't hide that so will have to be straight up with that bit.

Had my renewal inspection this week.
All went fine - just the one issue that i have to get back to them on.

The Farm Safety Book - Risk assessment.
Inside the first page contains you details and i have to send them in a picture of that.

Now according to the lad that called out, i should have received one in the post in the last few months - thats the one i have to produce for them.
Searched the place high up and low down and cant find it - have no recollection of receiving it either.

Question is, can i order a new one? and from who?

Can i download one online and fill in the details?

    Any help appreciated.

I signed up for an online herd register on Agfood. Will that satisfy the border bia inspection or do I need to do a herd register too?

Yes, the online register will be ok as long as you can log in and show the inspector on the day of the inspection.

You will need to have the herd book completed up to the date that you switched to the on line version.

Did it take long for them to inspect you after? Did you loose your QA status in the mean time? My cert is up in March, got a letter about two weeks ago so say they will be in contact. To be honest I could do with it not taking place before the end of March/start of April but that would mean the old one would be expired then. First cattle to be killed here end of May.
