No response from Wii U gamepad left analogue?

Hey chums, I bought a pre owned Wii U off someone today, and the left analogue stick on it just doesn't work at all. I've tried all the tips google suggested like resetting the gamepad, recalibrating the thing, formatting the console and resetting it, no dice. Any ideas or is this gamepad just ****ed?

I recently had to replace left analog stick in mine. Not a big job and you can buy a replacement for less than €10 on ebay.
