Online gay social groups

Hi all, genuine question here. Im a discrete gay guy living in cork and have been looking to meet guys online for a while now who are into the same things as me. Ive tried gaydar, manhunt and others but they are so quiet and not many people seem to use them or actually chat online properly.

Ive been trying to find groups on facebook and other places where likeminded guys actively chat to each other but havent found anything. Im mainly only interested in meeting for no strings but there doesnt seem to be a reliable place to meet guys online.

Any tips or ideas are welcome

The app Grindr is popular, mostly for no strings but other is possible, conversation etc etc

Craigslist is mostly used by eastern based if not solely Dublin guys.

Are there any southern or Cork based groups on meeets.com if that was any use to you OP?

I think your problem may be not so much that you can't find social groups or that there are so few gays in your area but that there just arn't many people that want to join social groups in the first place. In fact I would think there are less now than ever because of the web. I live out west and I know there is some gay social nights scattered over the place from time to time but they are so far between and involve a lengthy commute sometimes that I wouldn't be arsed. It would be just as easy for me to take the train to Dublin for a night out as it would be to go to galway or sligo for a one off event. Only thing I would suggest is maybe trying to set up a social group yourself in your area.

I'm a bit confused op. The title of the thread suggests you want to socialise online but then you say you mainly want no strings fun. They're really two different things.

I'm not a guy but I believe Grindr is what you want to get on for no strings fun. By most accounts I've read though, that's not where you want to be to socialise and make friends.

Depending on where you're located though, that is trickier. Have you looked on meetup.com to see if there's any groups you're interested in in your area?
