Lane way between houses

    Hi so there is a laneway between two houses which leads from a main road into estate. This lane has caused lot of antisocial behaviour. There was previous application made to council to block it up but one person objected saying their children use it to get buses to school/work. This resident does not live very close to lane so is not affected by the antisocial behaviour The residents surrounding the lane want it closed. What routes can we go down to get this blocked up? We can get signatures of residents that want it closed? Councillors? Guards report? Planning permission or land closure? Any help appreciated

    Get it lit to an eye scorching level. Easier than closure and usually has the same affect

    Not to mention expensive. Who would pay for it? Maintain it? Be responsible for it?

    Not really a "no brainer"

    OK so how about some fake cctv notices and a fake camera? that should be cheap enough

    Council have told us this is not possible due to public right to privacy etc

    presumably they mean they won't pay for it....and that's their excuse.

    First off, the council are talking through their posteriors - lots of CCTV in/around many city/town centres throughout the country.
    Aldi/Lidl have CCTV sets every couple of months - there is no issue with mounting these on a private dwelling and having them pointed at the area.
    Harass your local politicians - they fear nothing more then bad press.

    I have had a similar problem and the following things have worked for me;
    1) Opera Music - not my taste, but found it to be very effective, in the short term, which allowed me to......
    2) Very Generous quantities of Anti-Vandal paint - kids these days wear expensive clothes. this has worked very well
    3) Pictures of the activities which I left out for the group, lots of shouting when they found them, But they cleared off quick enough and never came back. Important to take the photos from a public place, and not your house. There might be a clever sod amongst the bunch able to work out where the photo was taken. If you can print the photos they could appear on a notice board........church/supermarket/sports hall - make sure the shot has a clear focus of the face.

    Take away anywhere they can sit or lean (anti vandal paint) and any shelter that they may use to get out of wind/rain.

    I have since planted lots of pyracantha and I keep it well watered and fed (receives much more attention than my garden)
