Hard to know wiggy, I think I'm right in saying if man or beast will still produce sperm with only one ball. Just not as much. I'm not sure what the story is for a fella that's ment to bull maybe fifty cows over a couple of months. I think it would be hard selling point Tbh.

Don't sell him as a breeding bull- he won't pass a fertility test as first part of the test is the crown joules

You could leave yourself open to being sued for loss of income due to sub fertile bull

Are you willing to stand over him? If so he should be fine but expect a hit on price.

He might be one to have in reserve if a guy lands in the yard to buy but not willing to pay decent money for another bull

I had the same - fertility tested him last week and he was spot on.

If he has 1 on teaticle not dropped he can't legally pass a Fertilty test

Have you named him yet? You could call him Mein Fuhrer. Is M the starting letter for this year?

We've sold loads of breeding bulls over the years and I've never looked at their balls

Scrotum circumference was grand, volume and quantity/quality of semen was perfect. I noticed the testicle issue similar to the OP but vet didn't pass any remark.

I don't think any cows will look at his balls before deciding to go in calf and I think that's the only fertility test which will legally hold up.
He could have perfect balls and fantastic sperm but if for some reason he can't get a cow in calf having been fairly tried he'll be regarded as infertile

The way I see it is he could well be perfect. Once the OP makes any purchaser aware of the defect (and should do so in writing to cover himself) and is willing to stand over the bull in the event of the bull being totally infertIle then he can sell away as a bull but probably can't expect to get full 5 star value for him but probably more than commercial value.
I seen a ram in a similar situation with 1 ball breed the best of lambs. He was old too when we had him. He'd have been slaughtered long before that if he wasn't doing his job.

I don't think the op needs to worry about being sued for loss of income due to a subfertile bull because.

    1. The purchaser bought a bull knowing 1 ball hadn't dropped.

    2. If you buy any bull how would you define sub fertile in court and then successfully sue for loss of income arising from this. It's a risk with any bull and a much bigger risk and potentially more costly than total infertility in a bull.

    3. The person who buys him probably won't be letting him to 50 cows as with those numbers they could justify paying a top price for a bull. The bull will produce all the sperm weeks in advance and store it. Even if storage/production capacity is lower it should be alright for smaller numbers of cows.

How old is the bull? If young the testicle might drop yet or could be aided in dropping with a hormone treatment protocol from your vet. It doesn't always work, but could be worth discussing with your vet if a young bull. It is a treatment protocol for stallions but could extrapolate.

Probably irrelevant if all his stock are finished but bear in mind having an undescended testicle is heritable so you could have alot of his offspring you can't get a burdizzo on if the testicles are high up. Then you have to get them cut or factory them intact. Something to consider as I've seen farms where they get a higher than average number of rigs and it's annoying for them.

Depends on if you want to try something different. There are protocols that are used occasionally in stallions up to 2 years old. Depends on if the testicle is fully in the abdomen or just in the inguinal ring. It's probably less than 50% chance of working and likely you would be injecting him with hormones twice a day for 2-3 weeks so depends if you want the hassle. If you like injecting bulls then have a chat with your own vet and see if they think the testicle is fully in the abdomen or not. He'll function away with one stone anyway so just depends what you want to do with him.

Are the cows active, if they were bulling they'd be jumping, either on him or other cows? Perhaps best to get a paint harness you'll know then if he was after any of them
