    Hi Folks,
We're house hunting at the moment and we're currently looking at a house that has an Aga 2 Oven Oil stove in the kitchen. It looks lovely and traditional and all that, problem is I have little to no clue about these things.
Would appreciate if anyone on here has any experience of these that they could provide feedback on how useful they find them.
My understanding is that they have to be always on and I would be concerned that it would be very expensive to run.
I've no idea if it's used for, or can be used for, heating water or rads so any information would be appreciated.

That range is probably a conversion especially if it is running on a Don burner system which would be gravity flow from the oil tank and would run on kerosene, I don't know if they were done on pressure jet burners, if it needs electricity to run it is the latter and should heat rads. With either burner it will heat lashings of hot water keep the kitchen up to required temp. The Don burner heats with wicks and they will need replacing approx. once a year but has no other wearing parts. I fitted one of them to our range about 25 years ago and it has run perfect since, we do turn it on and off as it suits us and if left on continuously over cold periods if set up perfectly will run for 24 hours for about 6 litres of fuel. Even if you buy the house and don't like the range it will fetch good money if sold on.

Thanks for the info. A bit more research to do on it so. Will be second viewing the house so hopefully get more info on it then.

The house purchase won't hinge on it for sure but it looks lovely in the kitchen and I understand they are expensive to buy/ fit so would be a plus if it worked out.

    Thanks again.
