    Hi

Just wondering what mileage/year do you need to change the timing chain on 2.0Ltr diesel SMAX? It is 08 automatic

Currently there is 150k km on the clock and I need new set of tyres/tax/insurance etc so just wondering should I invest now or swap

    Thanks

I have a 2 litre s-max, but it is a belt, not a chain, and 160K km was the quoted interval.

Its a belt not a chain and the interval is 200k km or ten years chances are the build date is well before the reg date so its likely due around now anyway.

Depends where you get it done but not that expensive water pump needs to be replaced aswell.

Our S-Max timing belt snapped six months ago and caused so much damage to the engine.

It resulted in €2k of repairs. We should have got the timing belt changed for a few hundred euro, but we always delayed.

The car had about 90,000 miles on the clock.

    Invest in the timing belt
