FTTC broadband - worth upgrading to it?

Hi Folks. I live in rural Kildare and have broadband coming into the house via copper line . Speeds are around 5mb. Vodafone have contacted me to say that I can now avail of FTTC and tell me I will get improved speeds up to 9mb. They are looking for me to sign an 18 month contract to active it.

Has anyone gone through this upgrade and have you noticed a significant improvement ? Not sure about locking into 18 months when it's only a few MB faster than current but at the same time a few more MB speed would be welcome ...

Any views , comments welcome !

    Thanks Boardies

Well 9Mb isnt a VDSL profile, so either they're being a bit thick or its not FTTC.

Yeah was wondering about that . So is there a minimum speed for FTTC?

    Enter your Eircode here:

You may be part of the rural FTTH rollout. It would be annoying to be locked into an 18 month contract if it were available to you soon.

4Mb on a FR profile, but thats basically unused. 7Mb is the lowest it can be sold at, but I wouldnt personally opt in before the 10Mb profile as it assumes your line will work at 100% which often isnt true.
