    Hi,

I'm picking up a friend flying into Dublin airport next Saturday, the arrival time is supposed to be 9:50am. Just wondering how much time is needed for them to go through immigration and customs? It's a Saturday morning so perhaps it's reasonable to expect it to be not too long?

    Cheers.

Get there for 10AM and you shouldn't be waiting for too long.

Check the Dublin airport website for arrivals early on Saturday morning, they will have posted estimated arrivals times for any flight arriving early or late.

Just because it's Saturday morning doesn't mean it will be quiet with no queues for immigration, there are flights arriving from the US every morning at that time - Delta from JFK at 09:40, Aer Lingus from Chicago at 09:50 and United from Newark at 10:00. Throw in a few flights from Europe and the UK arriving at the same time and you could have a massive queue.

yep. what coylemj said - i once picked someone up from the airport who managed to make it all the way through before the plane was originally timetabled to land (helped that they didn't have to wait at baggage retrieval).

Depends on which airline/terminal - Ryanair could be a 20 minute walk after landing.

Also how far the flight has come from, the longer the flight then the more chance it will be in early.

Best option is to check the actual departure time of the flight (use the website of the airport they are departing from) and then it is easy to work out when the plane will land. 1 would typically allow 20 minutes on top of that for plane to taxi, passengers to clear passport and collect baggage.

You pay for 1 hour parking in the short term car parks anyhow.

Sorry but that is very poor advice. You are assuming that (1) every flight takes off and arrives to schedule and (2) it takes 20 minutes from the time the plane touches down for a passenger to get through immigration, collect their bag and exit to arrivals

Passport and bags alone could easily take over an hour and the flight could be delayed. Flights from the US tend to involve hundreds of bags, yours could be last out, it has to happen someone.

But..... we don't know where the OP's friend is coming from or whether they have a bag or not. If it's not from the US then they might get out in under 30 minutes - provided they don't end up in a queue for immigration behind a couple of US flights.

If the OP looks at the Dublin airport website at 08:00 on Saturday morning, he/she will see the scheduled arrival times for all of the flights expected on Saturday morning and delayed flights will be flagged with updated ETAs. Relying on the timetable and parking in the short-term car park could be a very expensive mistake.

Baggage is much slower in T2 than in T1 in my experience.

Thanks all, my friend is flying into Terminal 1, with Turkish Airlines. As a non-EU passport holder, I suppose it won't be very quick.
