    Hi all,
I mailed the department a few months ago to let them know I was in a "blue" area but only getting 24Mb. A few months later and swapping mails with eir/department (who just pass on to eir) Vodafone bumped my speed to 34Mb (there are a lot more house further down my road who have no chance on getting >30Mb). Now I see a lot of FEC errors and the occasional drop out. Line is vectored.

    Line standard VDSL2
    Channel type None
    Downstream line rate (kbit/s) 34814
    Upstream line rate (kbit/s) 7506
    Downstream SNR (dB) 7.6
    Upstream SNR (dB) 8.8
    Downstream line attenuation (dB) 21.9
    Upstream line attenuation (dB) 9.9
    Downstream output power (dBmV) 14.5
    Upstream output power (dBmV) 7.1
    Downstream CRC 0
    Upstream CRC 0
    Downstream FEC 172476
    Upstream FEC 123

Who should I chase this up with? Hate to think eir say they can blue spot our road and get away with it.

    Thanks!

1600m run, 34 is pushing it out too far. Do you have TV from Vodafone? 34 is a FR profile not HSI which is the norm.
    850m 40 10
    1000m 30 8
    1200m 25 7

    FR(TV)
    850m 34 5-16
    1000m 28 5-16
    1200 20 5-16

On HSI you should be capped at 30_8 profile. US will still be a bit weak but it'd hopefully hold. On FR 28_8(?) would be the highest to go. 24Mb before suggests you are HSI as that has a 25Mb profile.

Thanks Ed_e. What is FR/HSI ? No TV.

Clearly Eir pushing that speed bump was not a good idea and prob just getting me off the dept list that annoys them.

Whether you're in an intervention area or not wont depend on the current profile, only the line rating.

Fixed rate is the more conservative system used for TV, HSI is high speed internet or normal connections.
