As above, is there any way of finding out the UK reg if current owner doesn't know it? I mean for free? I think you can get out through the likes of cartel?

It will be on the Irish log book.

Is it? I've asked a guy in an ad what the UK reg was before he himself VRTd it. He said "how would I know it's been over 4 years since I VRTd it!"

Section J.4 on the Irish VLC lists the original English reg.

Most likely a cowboy selling something clocked/crashed and hopes to get a sucker to buy it.

Anyone half serious about buying a car that went to the expense of importing would probably be able to tell you the reg in their sleep and have a mountain of paperwork from when they did it You don't VRT something on a whim. I'd thread carefully.
