I'm not sure but don't see why not as long as you can prove it. Have you a cert with you or access online to your handicap?

Can you go onto the Golflink website and print out a cert?

If you are just looking for some social golf, I can't see a problem with you going as a regular green fee payer on one of the lines. Depends on the course, but most of those mid week opens have plenty of spare tee times.

I think the question is more about him playing at the rate for the open, rather than the full green fee.

I suggest you identify a few open events of interest and call the clubs. I'm pretty sure they will be happy to have you but unless they can read your handicap from your card, you might not be able to enter the competition

You wouldn't be able to enter the official competition as a GUI handicap number would be needed to go on the system. There is no provision at the moment for handicaps from other countries.

Saying that though the clubs may allow you to pay the open competition rate and play without returning a card.

    h,

its the cost of the green fees im worried about, but I would like to enter an open mid week comps so im not just hitting the ball for the sake of it. I wont have anyone to play with (most likely) mid week, so was hoping to just play at some local clubs mid week comps. I can download my Aust handicap of the net and present it with my corresponding golflink card and ID

    thanks

Call the club in advance to check but I'd be surprised if any didn't allow you play at open rates.

Where are you going to be on holiday? You might get some fellow Boardsies to sort out a round / competition at their club.

I've played with guys in opens before who had no official handicap. Obviously not entered in comp, but they just went in and payed like everyone else. I'd say ring ahead like others advise, but I can't see many clubs having a problem with you playing. Especially if you have an official handicap that they can't register.

I know in Athlone you'd be absolutely fine to play in the open competition with your Australian Handicap. We have a lot of guests stay in the Hodson Bay Hotel and they enter the competitions with their foreign handicaps, in some cases winning prizes. We had a guy from Switzerland win a competition in open week 2 years ago iirc.

A certificate of your handicap should be all you need

Yup, I am an Aussie, and am able to play here as well. All you need is a certificate of your handicap and you're good to go
