Looking to maybe get myself a SUV

    MPG from fuelly.com
    Vitara 23.4
    RAV4 26.3
    CRV 27.5

    Reliability Index from reliabilityindex.com
    Vitara 59.00
    CRV 59.00
    RAV4 103.00

So far Grand Vitara looks like the top option

What year and fuel type are you looking at?

    If petrol:
    Honda CRV
    Toyota RAV4
    Suzuki Grand Vitara

    If diesel:
    Honda CRV
    Toyota RAV4
    Suzuki Grand Vitara

Either way I'd put the Vitara a distant 3rd. Build quality on the CRV/RAV4 would be better than the Vitara too.

Neither fuelly.com nor reliabilityindex.com states engines etc so I assume they are a composite of many engine types and models and even over years.
    www.fuelly.com/car
    www.reliabilityindex.com/top-100

Bazz, have you owned them? I think the reliabilityindex measures by cost of repair.

    I have a 132 1.6d CRV, 57mpg in Summer, drops to 52-53 in Winter.
Rock solid, a sensor went which was covered under warranty, that's it so far...

The new look Vitara is by far the more attractive SUV of the 3 you list.

And miles better value too. Certainly a better option than the agricultural looking RAV4.

The weight of the new Vitara is approx 1200kg. Handles better than the other 2 as well.

Seat Ateca worth considering too. I'm very tempted by the 1.4 petrol turbo.

It really comes down to the budget.

I had a CRV for 6 years. The only trouble it gave was a blown lightbulb. Fantastic car. It would be my no 1 choice.

Try using www.spritmonitor.de/en. It is much more refineable to exactly what you are looking for.
