Back to education allowance

    Hi,

A quick question about BTEA: I've been on half-rate carers for the past couple of years, and am in the process now of applying for jobseekers allowance. I have been offered a level 8 H Dip Psychology course in Trinity beginning in September, and on this link

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/back_to_education/back_to_education_allowance.html

it states "You can get the Back to Education Allowance for a postgraduate course of study that leads to a Higher Diploma (H.Dip.) qualification in any discipline or a Professional Masters in Education."

So am i right in thinking that I will qualify for BTEA? It looks fairly straightforward to me, but I just wanted to check. I'll need BTEA to do the course (and special rate of grant to pay the fees) and they are looking for a €500 deposit now that I can ill afford, so I want to know that I should be okay with this.

    Thanks.

Hi, I'm currently on jobseekers and considering the DBS conversion course in Psychology myself. How did you get on applying for BTEA, were you eligible?

    Thanks,
    Char
