Joint reading suggestion

    Hey all,

A very good friend of mine is getting married this summer and I've been asked to do a reading together with my twin brother. The three of us have been close friends for the best part of 20 years now and he's asked the two of us to either choose or write a surprise reading for the wedding. He'll won't know what it is in advance and will hear it for the first time on the day.

We haven't decided yet whether to try write something or not but in the meantime we're looking for nice readings. Obviously it can be on anything relevant to read at a wedding but we think something on friendship would be a nice theme.

Anyone have any suggestions of poems, pieces from a play, songs, pieces of prose, anything else that would be nice and would work well as a two-hander?

I should add that it's a humanist ceremony so we're not restricted to anything religious.

We had this reflection after communion:

Now you will feel no rain, (A)
For each of you will be a shelter to the other. (B)
Now you will feel no cold, (A)
For each of you will be the warmth to each other. (B)
Now there will be no loneliness, (A)
For each of you will be a companion to the other.(B)
    You are two bodies, (A)
But there is one life before you and one home.(B)
    When evening falls, (A&B)
Each will look up and the other will be there.(A&B)
He?ll take her hand; she will take his (A&B)
    And you?ll turn together, (A&B)
To look at the road you travelled to reach this: (A&B)
The hour of your happiness. (A&B)
It stretches behind you, even as the future lies ahead, (A&B)
A long and winding road, whose every turning means discovery. (A&B)
Old hopes, new laughter, shared fears, (A&B)
Your adventure has just begun. (A&B)

Our wedding singer/musician played music to accompany it and I have to say it was one of the nicest parts of the ceremony (obviously other than the vows ;) )

Edited to add, the format of this piece lends itself nicely (I think) as a 2 hander (see person A, person B above)
