    Hi,

Can someone recommend a golf club kit for me? I know nothing about it, but I want to get my partner a set of clubs for his birthday. He doesn't play regularly and in conversation, I get a sense that he would be prepared to spend about 250 on a set, so that's what I'll budget.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Maybe a voucher for the local pro or golf shop?

It's going to be difficult, in my view, for someone to pick out a set for him that he is completely comfortable with. A voucher might be a bit 'safer' than trying to pick out something for him. He might also be able to trade in his old set with the voucher and get an even better set than he would through just using the voucher.

    Excellent advice.

    Ah I'm not so sure.
If 250 is the budget then pretty much anything will do to be honest. You aren't getting much for that.
Sometimes it's nice to just get a gift as opposed to a voucher.
OP go to your local shop and ask what they have in the price range then decide to buy or get voucher. They will probably change them anyway. But my guess is the Lad ain't really into the game yet so will be delighted to get a starter set

Now what u tell the wife what you would spend in clubs and what you actually would are very different.
Think the voucher is the best bet.

Agree. Most golf shops have second hand sets that would be a better bet than new clubs in that price range.
