    Hi all,
each year we travel to malaga on holiday as a family with kids and grandparents. over the last few months one of the grandparents has been extremely ill and had to have a pacemaker fitted, has been diagnoised with cancer of the bone marrow, which needs weekly chemo treatment, and has recently started dialysis which involves being connected to a dialysis machine through the night. He is very still in hospital at the min but should be released to continue his dialysis at home over the next week or so. He is very weak at the min and struggles with stairs which will have to be climbed everytime the apartment needs to be left in spain. He is still talking about the trip to spain that we have booked for the start of August and I am wondering what the likelihood of him being able to make this trip will be? has anyone ever traveled abroad and received treatment similiar to this? Will insurance be possible without being extortionately priced? or are we realistically looking at a no hope of traveling situation that we need to start planting in his head, subtly over the next few weeks.
    any advice would be great

He needs to get a letter from his consultant clearing him for travel- however, from what you've described- particularly the dialysis- I'd be shocked if he were allowed travel. People do travel the whole time with cancer- and fair play to them for doing so- dialysis though- nope- it would be highly irregular- and almost impossible to organise.

You will also find it very difficult to get any cover for any high risk pre-existing conditions. If anything happens to him in relation to a pre-existing condition nobody in the travelling party would be covered either.
So say for example if the holiday had to be cut short to get him home and everyone had to return at the same time, nobody would be covered either under the pre-existing conditions exemption.
