Eurowings Cancellation

Hi folks, booked a flight with Eurowings but I need to cancel. As it is a budget flight, there is no option to cancel. Does anyone know if I re-book my flight as a SMART fare, which will be slightly more expensive, will I then have the option to cancel and get a refund? Thanks

can you actually change the fare category?
I can only see a fee relating to date or name change, and without knowing more you'd think that means you stay on the cheaper fare.

Yes it can be changed but whether or not this will given an option to cancel it I don't know
