Looking at getting a new 171 kia optima gt line.Whats your opinions on the car if any one here has one.
Another question is i currently have an opel insignea 2.0ltr turbo 140bhp.the kia is a 1.7CDTI engine 141bhp.my question is will there be a big difference in the power of the car as the engine is 1.7 however the bhp is 141
    thanks

There is exactly 1 bhp difference between the two. I would not call it a big difference.

The Kia has a slightly better 0-100kmph time, but that could be down to gearing. The 1.7 engine produces a small bit less torque than the Insignia like for like. Bhp figures don't always tell the whole story, but in this case I'd say they'd be very close in terms of real world driving too.

And because of a bit of fat around the hips in Insignia...

Drove an Optima GT line when I was buying a while back. Very impressed with the level of tech for the price, and plenty of power for most people. For me coming from an older 3 series I passed because it just wasn't comparable to what I wanted (kind of like driving a yacht after getting off a jet ski) but I'd still struggle not to recommend it.

Manual gearbox is manky. Get an auto if budget allows.

Yeah, was about to post that, the Insignia could be 50-100kg heavier depending on the model.

I kinda like the interior. Not sure id opt for that over a more regular coloured interior though, much as though I'd like to think I would.

Somebody here (was it gustavofring?) was saying the glass roof really affects the headroom.

I have a 171 Platinum Spec of the Optima - has the exact same engine as the GT Line. I have been very pleased with my purchase and would have no problem recommending the optima. Plenty of power for the weight of the car and handles well. You should also look at the auto version with the sunroof - same price as the GT line - not mad about the GT line interior myself

well i test drove the gt line this morning and decided against it .i loved the look of the car and the interior and the tech spec however i found the car under powered .No go in her .my insignia would leave it for dust which is disappointing as i really liked the car .Also the steering is really light which was another draw back for me .so i had to pass on it unfortunately .Will wait to see the new insignia sport launch next month .thanks for all the replies
