Looking to get around 20 acres of Rushes sprayed, land all easily accessible,as is water for the mix.I will provide the chemical spray.
How much roughly per acre would a contractor with 4wd tractor and sprayer charge for the job?

    Thanks for any replies.

If you get it done for less than 200 euro you'll have a bargain.

When I get hold of contractor he sprays 27 acres for 250. That's one fill of the sprayer. That was spraying for docks, spray cost guts of 1000 euro.

It's not straight forward as you'll have to factor
who supply's the Chemical, how far they have to travel to your farm, how many Refills, time to refill .
20 acres is a big area
Got 5 acres done, €50 for his time (to, from & there) with 1 fill, I supplied the chemical

So do you mean it cost you 50 euro to get the 5 acres sprayed?

No, it cost me about €100
€50 for the Sprayer man who's only 3 miles away and almost another €50 for the chemical

The rate is €10/11 per acre. Simple question, simple answer.

Most contractors would do 20 acres on one tank, 10 an acre most likely unless a large distance to travel

I don't know, tank looked small enough it was a trailed one he picked up in the uk I think he said it was 1989 year, nice tidy machine but was also able to lift the boom over fences and that, he did 20 acres for me with one tank.

Question guys. What speed do ye recommend spraying at? I do it in second low on a MF165. Is this too slow / fast? Thanks

It's slow. When I used to spray on the ford 6600 it was in 2nd high. That has a 4 speed box whereas the 165 has 3 so you could up it to first high depending on ground conditions no problem.

Can you say how many acres of heavy rushes you covered with 10 litres of MCPA at that speed? About 8 acres?

That speed was on tillage or level grassland, heavy rushes a different ball game entirely. About 2 litres to the acre, but the ground was mowed fairly tight a few weeks before and they were a lush green.

Queeye I was talking about speed when doing heavy rush tall and maybe 2 yrs there, would be same speed?
Usually lick the fresh rush in Grasslands with Gallop as very cost effective in Comparison to MCPA. Thanks

Play it by ear over the lumps is probably best Pure. The time you save spraying quicker will be small compared to your time welding booms back together later!
