The IFI started a new monthly strand last Sunday, the 'Mystery Matinee':

It started with 'Berlin Syndrome' www.curzonartificialeye.com/berlin-syndrome/
The reaction on the IFI's Twitter and Facebook pages to the film seems positive.

Next one is May 14th.I've gone to Surprise Films in festivals before, but they're always previews. How do people feel about paying to see a film that could be absolutely anything, even something you've seen before, without any idea beforehand?

The one last Sunday was 'Snatched', with Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn. It wasn't bad, I got some laughs out of it.

    This was yesterday's:

I enjoyed it, though it's probably a minor film for all the talent involved.

Today's was Lady Bird, well in advance of its opening,so it was a great preview.Loved the film, hope to see it figure in the Oscar nominations this week.
