Hi folks just have a question about warranty I have 85000 miles on my car i do a lot of drivng

its nearly 2 years old I seem to go disc brakes every three months honestly not sure if Toyota stuff is poor with brakes

Well the brakes are making that grunting sound again I'm going to have to get them looked at but the query I have is my warranty does it stop exactly on the 100,000 km ?

if so I'm thinking I'll just get the brakes done and go back to my last mechanic to gey the service done a bit later , if the warranty is finished any ideas or advice welcome

Discs or pads aren't warranty work, they're consumables.

No I understand that I'm not asking about warranty on brakes I'm talking about the warranty on the car

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭torrevieja

Is it 85k miles or kilometers you have up on it?

    Are you braking hard?

    Disks or pads?
The disks should not wear out that frequently. Do all four corners wear evenly?

Both I'm not sure about even just feel there product is crap

Replacing brake pads every three months sounds like complete madness, never mind discs! It sounds like something is wrong elsewhere and they have completely failed to diagnose the issue.

I had issues with noisy/uneven wear on the rear brakes on my Prius, but the problem was with sticky/seized caliper slide pins. I could have wasted hundreds on new discs/pads, but what I really needed was about €50 on one new pin, new boots and some grease.

Exactly. If you were really hard on the brakes I'd still expect a set of pads to last 30,000km fairly handily. Unless OP's commute takes him around Mondello a few times a week this shouldn't be happening if everything was healthy with the rest of the braking system.

Anything more than one disc set and three pads sets would be super-excessive...

I have done 125,000 miles of stop start city driving and have replaced the discs once.
Hell, even the pads last 50,000 miles.

I put new pads on my car 200k km ago and still have about half left :-D

Drive like you have no brakes and you will save on fuel, tyres and brakes.

    What car is it ?

    I run a avensis(2010) and rav4(2016). Both 2.0 d4d.

Avensis has 320k kms - pads changed twice and discs once.
Rav has 58k kms - still on original brakes/pads

85k miles, less than 2 years old, constant brake disks and pads and now the clutch is gone??

Not being funny, but unless the car is an absolute pup of a Friday build there has to be something wrong with driving style. Absolutely no way should you have had to replace a single set of disks yet and only 1 set of pads would be just about acceptable. Now the clutch gone???

Seriously, I'd be demanding to see the old clutch and have it inspected independently. If it's broken up it should be warranty, consumable or not. If it's worn then maybe don't rest your left foot on the clutch pedal while driving.

€200-300 for the kit, €200 for labour. Parts and labour are more expensive from the dealer, but Toyota are typically reasonable.

There's hardly an issue where the brakes are sticking?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,644 ✭✭✭✭punisher5112

There has been issues on other makes with especially rear brakes binding. Faulty callipers.

Unless you drive with handbrake on.....

Seems mad clutch gone so quick. My car is at 166k miles on original clutch and discs only changed once.

My brother's Auris had a new clutch after 9 months, and rear pads and discs when the rear brakes stuck on .

Seems ok to me. The dealer is probably a bit conservative when qualifying the parts for replacement, but two sets of pads and one of discs over 135kkm isn't anything out of ordinary.

The rear could last a bit longer though...

Don't have a toyota and never did. i've a ford focus and changed the pads and discs in it 14 months ago, haven't had to change them since and i've done 18000 miles since then, i even got the car through the NCT.

Granted i will more than likely have to change the pads before christmas if i still have the car.
