Extra remote control for Fiesta

I'd like to get an extra remote for my 2016 Fiesta for locking/unlocking only, not to use for starting the (standard key-type) ignition so I don't need the blade cut.

If I bought a compatible key on, say, eBay and follow the instructions in the car manual for programming a new remote, will that work? The listings generally say that they have to be programmed by a locksmith first but is that only for use actually starting the car?

    Ebay all the way.
Just check you are getting the electronics in the fob, not just a plastic shell.

Remote unlocking fob can be programmed very easily by yourself, but you have to have all remotes present at the time.

Locksmith/Ford only needed for starting, can also be done yourself.
