The rarely seen large petrol family car

Looking to get a fairly large family car, like an estate or MPV. Something with big boot and easy to fit multiple car seats in. We would do less than 10,000km per year and rarely more than 20/30km at a time so would be madness to go diesel? Problem is we're severely limited in choice thanks to the huge trend towards diesel since 2008/9. Budget is around 15k but can push it to 20k if something exceptional comes up. Reliability is very important as it is our only car.
Also have a Mazda 3 '06 to trade in which should hopefully get me at least 2k or could just sell it privately for a bit more.

Something like this Citroen C4 Grand Picasso looks ideal but I believe it is sold already. Need to ring and confirm with the guy in the garage.

I'm thinking we just need to keep an eye on sales and if that rare combination of large and petrol comes along then jump on it?

Nissan Qashqai would be a good petrol choice in my opinion. Good few up on carzone under your budget

Theres also a 1.2 petrol Qashqai available!

so big car doesn't have to have big tax/fuel bill

Qashqai is a fairly compact car. Even the xtrail isn't exactly blessed with space.

Yeah a couple of friends had them back nearly 10 years ago and didn't like them. Main complaints were size internally and that the seat belts weren't long enough for most baby seats that require them. Newer models might be better though, will look into it.

The Honda FR-V is a strong contender for me. I'm in the market myself atm for a petrol family car. That or the CR-V. Both have lots of space front and back.

My budget is a lot lower though...

FR-V a great car. My 08 is going well, and it has loads of space without being a big car if you know what I mean. Room for 6 and a good boot too.

Since my kids are getting bigger, not as necessary as it once was. Thinking of selling it in the not too distant future and going electric.

I'd say your better off looking to the uk for a suitable car where you can literally pick the name model and colour as there is such a huge choice.

I wanted a 2.0 petrol family car and didn't even bother looking for anything here as they simply don't exist. I was able to get the exact spec, mileage and colour I wanted in the uk.
