Reducing depth of loft insulation

Bought a house and renovating at the moment.

I want to use the loft for storage. The previous owners have a huge amount of insulation up there. Probably 600mm of fiberglass wool up there.

There is a narrow channel from one end to the other where its only filled up to the level of the beams and boarded over so you can crawl from one end to the other.

Id like to board over the whole loft for storage and just to make the cleaner and easier to access.

Is there any insulation type that would give the equivalent insulation properties without taking up so much space?

You could lift the rock wool and fit high density boards instead to get the same level of insulation.
However boards are notoriously difficult to fit as air tight as the rock wool which will reduce its efficiency a bit.

    Maybe spray foam ??

Make sure you don't throw the baby out with the bath water and result in less insulation as that obviously would be a backward step indeed.

Just counter batten, and keep the insulation. It also helps spreading any loads from storage?

Keep the walk way for access and handyness. Then counter batten either side and make platforms for storage or you can use the big plastic feet to raise thus section.

What do you mean by big plastic feet?
