Going rate for a clutch replacement?

    Hey all,

    The clutch has gone on my 07 Volvo S40 and I have been looking around online to see if I could find estimates for the cost of having it replaced, but couldn't find any prices.

    Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate for a clutch replacement? Can't bring it to my regular mechanic as I've recently moved house and it's too far to transport it. I've never had a clutch go on me before, so I'm a bit unsure as to what the expected price would be.

    You will be looking at replacing the flywheel too, your probably talking about ?1000 to ?1200 from an independent garage at a guess.

    I had my cmax (same 1.6 engine) clutch and flywheel replaced not to long ago.
    Think it was about 600-700 all in from my lad

    Over a grand sounds more than a bit steep for that engine alright.

    They are one of the more painful clutches to do but the price of the flywheel has dropped from 600+ to 300 ish now so should be changeable for 700 - 800.
