I don't like spreading it on grazing ground or silage ground as I think it brings out nettles/weeds.Is it worth anything to sell it or should I just give it away?

Do you do any reseeding that you could spread it first and plough it in? Pity give it away, great stuff for ground. I'd spread it and spray the few nettles

Do the one pass reseeding,no ploughing.

    +100

Seriously good fertiliser. A bit of spray will sort out the weeds.

Turn the heap, when it heats it'll kill the weed seeds....the old ways are thee best.
You're wasting a good product there by giving it away, spread about 20 acres here and never any more weeds than the rest of the farm

Spreading dung is a great way for introducing worms into reclaimed ground.

Spray your silage ground first and get rid of the weed seeds in your silage.
    No seeds no weeds!

Could you spread it on ground that you plan to reseed next year?

you could. Just graze the field once dung is broken down. It is brilliant stuff for ground. Slow to break down but theres a steady release of nutrients throughout the year and a build up of organic carbon in the soil which is a benefit for soil bacteria

Last bit of reseeding I did I put 10 ton to the acre out and then two runs of the power harrow so I wouldn't let that stop you

How are you spreading it? we had a lad come in with a rear discharge before thought it brought out slightly more weeds than the side slinger but nothing to be too bothered about. The only time I've seen weeds be a real issue is fellas spreading with the transport box and leaving lumps around the place trying break them up with the harrow.

Contractor last spread it with a Keenan orbital side spreader, went out a bit too thick on fields I think.
